Aluminum Boat Cleaning Tips

If you own an aluminum boat, you must have an idea that it requires regular cleaning as this kind of boats gets filthy quickly. This is especially true if your boat is not painted. Boats with natural aluminum finish gets dirty easily. Therefore it is necessary to clean the surface at regular intervals.

Cleaning an aluminum boat is not a very difficult task. If you follow the guideline given by the manufacturer you will not find it hard to keep your boat clean.

Before you start cleaning the boat, you should go through the safety recommendations given by the manufacturer. This will ensure that you don?t damage the boat in any way while cleaning it. The recommendations are usually given on the Trisodium Phosphate box.

First wet the boat with clean water and then use the TSP solution. The entire boat surface should be thoroughly wet.

When you use TSP solution for cleaning your boat make sure to wear safety gloves on your hands and glasses on your eyes.

You can apply the solution with the help of a sponge. Start from the top of the boat and move downwards. Horizontal strokes work well for cleaning aluminum boats.

After you apply the TSP solution, clean the boat with water. If your boat has been cleaned properly then the surface will shine. Otherwise you should understand that the boat has not been cleared properly.

If you find any particular stain very difficult to remove, then you should leave the TSP solution to sit on the stain for a few minutes but make sure the solution doesn?t get tried. After sometime apply some more solution on the stain and use a scrub pad to remove the stain.

Regular cleaning is necessary no matter whether you have a brass boat or an aluminum boat. It is better to paint the boat. This will ensure that the boat doesn?t get dirty easily. If you can not afford painting the boat right after buying it, you can paint it later. Till then clean your boat frequently to keep it in a good condition.
